Supporting capability · Custom car dealer websites

Custom car dealer websites built around your inventory.

For independent dealers who have outgrown a template site: we scope, build and support a storefront shaped around your inventory, your pricing rules and the way your team follows up on leads. You own the site and the content.

This is a supporting capability. Most engagements now start with analytics or vehicle and offer content quality; see also Vehicle & offer content quality.

The problem

Template sites describe cars they don't understand.

Most dealer website vendors give every store the same filters, the same layout and the same lead form, then charge monthly for changes. Sold units linger, photos lag behind the lot, and the pages shoppers actually land on are the ones you can't edit.

A custom build starts from your inventory data and your process. What gets built is agreed up front — including what stays out of scope — so the site keeps working when your mix, pricing or follow-up changes.

The build, end to end

Feed to search to vehicle page to lead.

01

Inventory in

Vehicles arrive from your feed or are entered directly, with VIN decoding, photo sets, pricing and status. One record drives every surface that shows the car.

02

Search and filtering

Shoppers filter by make, model, body style, drivetrain, transmission, price and payment. Results are fast on a phone, and the filters match how your inventory is actually described.

03

Vehicle detail pages

Full gallery, specs, disclosures, and a clear next step. Each page is its own indexable URL with structured data, so vehicles can surface in search.

04

Lead delivery

Enquiries route where your team already works — inbox, CRM, or both — with the vehicle context attached and a record you can audit.

Details that decide the build

What we agree before writing code.

Sold-unit behaviour

Whether sold vehicles disappear, redirect to similar inventory, or stay as a marked record. This decision affects search results and returning visitors, so it is made deliberately rather than by default.

Content ownership

Photos, descriptions and page content remain yours, exportable, with no licence held over your listings.

Launch and migration

Existing URLs are inventoried and redirected where they carry value, so a relaunch does not reset what search engines already know about you.

Cost drivers

Quotes are shaped by inventory volume and feed quality, how many integrations are in scope, how much of the design is bespoke, and the level of ongoing support you want. Build cost, recurring hosting and third-party fees, and the cost of future changes are quoted separately so you can see each one.

Limitations

Some data sources and vendor systems require your permission or a paid interface before we can connect to them. Where that is the case we say so during scoping instead of assuming access.

Proof

Club Manual runs this exact pattern.

Club Manual is our own marketplace for manual transmission cars: listing ingestion, normalised vehicle data, search and filtering, indexable vehicle pages and dealer inventory. It is live software you can inspect rather than a screenshot in a deck.
